Corberán: “The demands will be at the highest level”
The Valencia CF coach previews the game against RCD Espanyol
Another goal from the penalty spot for Dani Parejo enabled Valencia CF to take a vital victory against Sevilla on Matchday 29. The midfielder now has 8 goals for the season, and he reflected on the game at the Sánchez Pizjuan following the final whistle.
"We're happy. We knew that we were coming to a difficult ground, that there was a lot at stake and that this was a game in which it was about more than just the three points. We're pleased, because we won and we're in the fight for the objective we had set out at the start of the season," explained Parejo.
"We suffered in the second half, but we also had our chances. Gameiro hit the crossbar and we had several counterattacks that we could have finished. The team were able to hold on against opponents who are going to fight for the same aims as us."
"We were coming into this one off the back of the international break and a run of 15 games without a loss," the captain continued. "This year we've only lost one LaLiga game, in January against Deportivo Alavés. That's happened for a reason, as the team do things well. We're a family and we defend like warriors."
"I dedicated my goal to my children and my wife. It's my eighth goal of the season and it was enough to give us the three points."
